Two More Cast Members Announced for The Hobbit
Peter Jackson recently announced two more members who have been chosen to join the cast of the upcoming Hobbit movies. Last week, we released most of the main cast list, which had a few holes. Two of those big holes have now been filled.
James Nesbitt has been hired on to play the role of Bofur. The Irish actor has quite the impressive resume and is considered as one of Britain’s finest. The addition of Nesbitt definitely just boosted the stock of an already impressive cast.
Adam Brown was also announced as a newcomer to the project to play the role of Ori. Brown lacks the extensive resume that Nesbitt has, but is a great addition to the cast.
In regards to the new adds, Peter Jackson said the following,
“James’s charm, warmth and wit are legendary as is his range as an actor in both comedic and dramatic roles. We feel very lucky to be able to welcome him as one of our cast… Adam is a wonderfully expressive actor and has a unique screen presence. I look forward to seeing him bring Ori to life”
As for any updates regarding Ian Mckellen, there are no official ones, however, our sources say that indeed a contracted deal is getting closer and should be announced soon. The “idea” of the film without Mckellen was never really considered, and the delay in getting him “signed” has more been logistical rather than strategical. MGM’s bankruptcy filing today may have an influence as well.
