Peter Jackson Releases Exclusive Video From Hobbit Set

Peter Jackson has given a delightful treat to Hobbit fans by releasing a video update from the set of The Hobbit movie in New Zealand.  Not only does he discuss the process it has been thus far, but also gives a behind the scenes look at the set, which many will look familiar from The Lord of the Rings.

Jackson also invites us to sit in on a blocking session with the actors as they sit in Bilbo’s home to discuss the mission to retrieve the gold.  What a great site it is to see the Dwarves sitting with Gandalf and Bilbo!

This is why we love Peter Jackson as The Hobbit director.  Rarely, do directors factor in fans and take the time out to give updates as these to give the world the behind the scenes look.  Peter Jackson has always been very engaging with his fans and makes sure they can come along for the ride.  He made it clear that this is the first of several video blogs that are to come as the movie continues to go forward.  Stay tuned!

Having watched the original trilogy’s appendices over and over again… it almost seems for me, just as an onlooker, that the energy, feel and vibe of the original group of people is manifesting once again in the best possible ways. It literally does not seem like, what…, 12 or 13 years since we first saw Peter’s directorial vision take the helm to begin filming these movies.

Seeing the sets rebuilt and even Ian McKellen sitting there on set brought a smile to my face. I’m really happy these movies are being made now, and very much looking forward to the next video blog.

Luckily, because of Peter Jackson and the Hobbit, I’ll have a good movie to wait for at least to years after the end of Harry Potter :) . I was looking forward to see Lord of the Ring and Harry Potter one after another when i was young, and now, there will be no more Harry, but there will be some amazing movies about the Hobbit! love it!

It starts again! It will be another adventure, with the same guide who took us from the Shire to Mordor and back again. Thank you Peter, for beginning this journey in such a propitious way that quietly awakens the spirit of fellowship that will sustain us.

I was a young teenager when I read The Hobbit, for the first time. It was the beginning of a lifelong addiction to SciFi/Fantasy books. My grandaughter was almost 4years old when the first of the trilogy movies came into our home. I am sure that was in the first week of its release, because my husband, although not as bookish, is equally as attached to Tolkien as I. I warned him that a child of that age would not have the attention span to stay with a full length movie, no matter how exciting. I was wrong. She has been enchanted, has played with the action figures for years, is quite competative at the Trivial Pursuit game, and continues to watch the DVDs frequently. The story is timeless, and the movies are bringing it to another generation.

I’m only 16 years old, but I am an aspiring filmmaker and watching this added greatly to my longing to be a part of the making of this film. (Even if I’d have to do the dishes on set every night for three years! I’d do it just for the experience!)
I clapped my hands in excitement several times while watching this! It put a huge smile on my face because I’ve always wished to experience the excitement and thrill of joining thousands of fans as they watch and wait, anticipating the day that a Lord of the Rings film is released; and now I can!
Peter Jackson, you’re one in a million! (If your’e looking for an extra dish washing person, I’m right here!…yes, I am that serious.)

Thanks so much for the first look – that was amazing! Thank you to Peter Jackson and the cast and crew. I was afraid this movie might never happen – I’ve been hoping for it since I first read The Hobbit 14 years ago. I can’t wait to see what you do with Smaug!

I have no doubt it will be a total success. I would be very good in the future, make a trilogy (or more) on the silmarillon, isn’t it? Would doubtless be a success too.
